Tunghai University held its 65th anniversary athletic meeting on November 2nd, 2020. The quinquennial extended meeting fascinated the audience with more creativity and excitement than ever. At the opening ceremony, athletes, faculty, and students walked around the sports field with creative dress-ups to compete for the "Best Team Spirit Creativity Award". Activities included various fun competitions for faculty and students, thousand-person gymnastics, hunter cheerleading, children’s performances by children of Tunghai Kindergarten, student women’s 2,000 meters and men’s 4,000 meters group relays, etc.

Under the global stress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the outdoor sports event was considered very precious. In order to compete for the team spirit creativity award, all teams tried to show their best. The Academic Affairs team dressed in traditional costume of Taiwanese aboriginal tribes, highlighting the recently-established Indigenous Student Resource Center; the Fine Arts Department dressed up as Tunghai-signatured caterpillars and milk cows; and the Creativity College dressed up in Halloween costumes.

During his opening remarks, President Mao-Juin Wang thanked the alumni of 1971 graduates for returning as a special celebration group, reported the launch of the high-standard covered sports court and the baseball/softball field in the second teaching area, and announced the plan to ground-break a new multi-function building in spring next year. President Wang encouraged the students to look at life as a sports game and to take challenges and exceed themselves with innovation and advancements.

On Sports Day, the Music Department held a worship service for the renovation of the departmental building. The Department has six musical groups which tour around the world every year. Teaching spaces as well as recital spaces were in high demand. The renovation fund was donated by Mr. Ching-Ho Cheng, the Chair of the Da-Du-Shan Society, an NPO formed by Tunghai alumni, in 2018. The donation was a gracious response to the fund-raising concert in honor of the 80th birthday of Prof. Juanelva Rose, the founding Chair of the Music Department of Tunghai University.
