Prof. Shao-Ren Weng of IE Dept. and his team
The cooperation target is to apply a human body sensing monitoring module to medical rehabilitation transportation robots. The target product is the MULTIROBOT (SMART WALKER) developed by Czech companies De & Co Hranice s.r.o., ROBOTSYSTEM, and PEŠEK Machinery s.r.o.. The product has been developed in the Czech Republic for years with its electromechanical control system almost complete. However, the high-end technical capabilities of signal processing and artificial intelligence are still insufficient. Partners in Taiwan will assist in solving these problems.
Three Czech partner companies: De & Co Hranice s.r.o., ROBOTSYSTEM, and PEŠEK Machinery s.r.o.
Besides Prof. Weng of Tunghai University, partners in Taiwan include Prof. Wei-Ming Liu of National Chung Cheng University, Prof. Yong-Yu Hsu of Hungkuang University, Prof. Yao-De Tsai of Feng-Jia University, and research team from Industrial Technology Research Institute. The professors will be responsible for signal processing of life symptoms and AI algorithm of tumble-prevention mechanism, while the researchers at ITRI will be responsible for developing a pressure sensing module which will measure and analyze the posture of the patient when standing on the transportation robot.
SMART WALKER
The cooperation between Taiwan and the Czech Republic will create complementary benefits in terms of science and technology. The team members on both sides are all actively engaged in the development of medical robotic products, and have proven achievements. In September 2020, Professor Weng met with the medical members of the delegation led by Czech Senate President on their Taiwan visit and discussed about the cooperation.
