PU President Tang said that the two neighboring universities, both rooted in Christian spirit, are grateful to pray together again this year with peace and joy, for knowledge and truth, and for giving love, following the 24-year tradition. At this time when a pandemic is sweeping the world and panic and sorrow are spreading all over, we face it with love and mutual help. PU chaplain, Fr. An-ren Yang, served the prayer meeting.

Former Vice President Sir Chen stressed that in response to the second wave of COVID-19 surge, rapid screening and preparation of antivirus drugs and vaccines are top priorities. It is still necessary to closely monitor the global and domestic epidemic situation, enforce border quarantine, strengthen TOCC (Travel history, Occupation, Contact history, Cluster) report accuracy, and implement case isolation treatment and hospital infection control. Taiwan has been internationally recognized in fighting against the pandemic due to the collective efforts of all our people. Taiwan has perfected epidemic prevention measures and deployment, and the government and industry have worked together to successfully prevent the epidemic. Sir Chen also cited Mother Mary Teresa’s devotion in health care, love and peace, and Dutch Father Damien’s unrelenting love in taking care of leprosy patients as role models for young people to follow and to face the world with wisdom and mercy.
