The Digital Manufacturing & Innovation Alliance (DMI) of Tunghai University and the Information Service Industry Association of ROC (CISA) held the "Smart Manufacturing and Digital Transformation Exchange Forum" and signed a memorandum of understanding on September 3, 2020. The MOU was signed by Tunghai Vice President Li-Chih Wang and CISA Chairman Bo-Yan Shen.
Joint demonstration of smart manufacturing
According to the MOU, the CISA and Tunghai University will keep strengthening in the field of smart manufacturing together. Through such cooperation, students will learn from theory and practice. Furthermore, digital technology will be used to assist the "generation succession" for the local manufacturing industry to explore the blue ocean of smart manufacturing.
CISA Chair Shen said that market uncertainties, US-China trade war, and COVID-19 pandemic are critical issues in 2020 for the global supply-chain. The manufacturing industry has to respond and upgrade in time to meet the high value-add demand.
Memorandum of Understanding co-signed by Tunghai VP Li-Chih Wang and CISA Chairman Bo-Yan Shen.
The Forum attracted eight industrial experts from CISA members, including representatives from CRIS, MiDFUN, ISCOM, Shinewave, AXIS-Group, TANGRAM, and Cosen Mechatronics, and seven from smart factory solution providers, namely, Streber-Tech, GEO Informatics, Quan Le Technology, FanRuan Software, SUNSTIGE, PMC, and Taiwan TEAMA Technologies. This comprehensive ecosystem will facilitate the transformation of the manufacturing industry and enhance its core competitiveness.
Tunghai VP Prof. Li-Chih Wang stated that Tunghai has been promoting campus-wide AI program for the incubation of future AI talents. For example, establishing Cloud College, AI Center, Industrial Smart Transformation Center, AWS with Amazon, Taiwan AI Academy on campus. In terms of smart manufacturing, the "Smart Manufacturing Pilot Line Lab" and the "AIOT Co-learning and Co-creation Base" have been established.
