Visit of Taiwan-Africa Business Association at Tunghai --To develop the Industry-Academy Collaboration

On April 19, 2021, the delegation of Taiwan-Africa Business Association (TABA)—the Chairman, Mr. Sun Jeff; Vice-Chairman, Mr. Hank Hsieh; Vice-Chairman, Mr. Hense S.W. Tsai; Director, Mr. Neil Young; and Deputy Secretary General, Ms. Vicky Chung— visited Tunghai University. President Mao-Jiun Wang welcomed the delegation along with Dean of International College, Dr. James Sims, Department Chair of Placement and Alumni Office, Dr. Ching-Tsorng Tsai, Professor of Department of Industrial Engineering and Enterprise Information, Dr. Shao-Jen Weng, International Chief of Office of International Relations, Dr. Annie Y. Tsai, and the Director of Office of Public Relations, Ms. April Chen. The Master’s degree student at Department of Computer Science, Mr. Frank Makowa, also shared his experience and life at Tunghai University.

In the welcome speech, President Mao-Jiun Wang emphasized that Tunghai University is an internationalized institution. In addition to developing the student mobility opportunities, we have also endeavored to recruit the international students to pursue their degrees at Tunghai. President Wang hopes that the collaboration with Taiwan-Africa Business Association will be a new start to develop the connection with African countries.

Chairman Sun Jess stated that Taiwan-Africa Business Association has been endeavoring the business and academic collaboration in the African countries and anticipated to deepen the cooperation to recruit more African students to study in Taiwan and to cultivate professional talents.
The Former Director General of Department of Protocol, MOFA, Ambassador Elizabeth Y.F. Chu, has contributed to the collaboration of Tunghai University and Taiwan-Afirca Business Association. Ambassador Chu expected that the collaboration between the two sides will increase the cooperative opportunities and strengthen the connection between Tunghai University and African countries to create the win-win-win situation.

The purpose of this visitation is to establish the partnership between Tunghai University and Taiwan-Africa Business Association to promote international collaboration. Tunghai University wishes to strengthen the academic connection between Taiwan and Africa and to enhance international mobility and industry-academy cooperation in bringing benefits to both university students and faculty members.
